Gaga for Tea

Lady Gaga is bigger than tea! almost… She has become the first living person to have 10 million fans on Facebook.

The 24-year-old Poker Face singer made the breakthrough on Friday, before using the social networking site to thank her fans. “I love you guys so much,” she said in a video posted to her page. “Thank you so much for all of your love and your support, and for sticking by me.”

Apparently not satisfied with the mere 10 million fans, she added: “Become my friend on Facebook ‑ I’ll never forget you.”

Pop the kettle on love and we’ll never forget you either

Dear Sarah Rose

Dear Sarah Rose

I returned home this evening very much looking forward to reading your new book ‘For All The Tea In China’. Unfortunately my dog eat it.

I would very much like to read your book and would be happy to write a review for you if you or your publisher would care to send me a replacement? I should probably add that I did buy this copy.

I’ll pop the kettle on…

Subject: Ban on sugary tea in Welsh hospitals
Hello,
I wondered if the Tea Appreciation Society may be interested in commenting on a story I am writing for tomorrow’s newspaper.

Vending machines in Welsh hospitals are to be banned from offering sugar in tea due to “risk of health”.

If anyone from the society would be interested in commenting, it would be great to hear from you.

Dear Michael

Thanks for your email.

I am merely the co-founder of the Tea Appreciation Society and cannot comment for the society as a whole, but my personal view is thus…

It’s another example of the ‘nanny state’. These puritan values only demean us. If one chooses to drink a cup of wishy washy tea – the taste of which is closer to that of cats piss from a vending machine – then surely the consumer has the right to mask the disgusting flavour with a lovely lump of sugar.

It didn’t make it into the printed article. They chose to quote a Doctor from the Tea Advisory Panel instead.

my life with 32,000 teabags

A report in Metro – June 21st 2010

So, while others have drawers full of written reminiscences, this 44-year-old has old suitcases stuffed with more than 32,000 used bags.

‘I love drinking tea and I save the teabags because it’s a way of marking the days – it’s better than a diary,’ she said.

The mother of three has perfected her tea-related logging technique over the past 11 years. First, she has her cuppa then dabs the used bag on some paper.

She then numbers the bag and sometimes notes down who she drank the tea with and anything interesting they discussed.

She then dries the tea bag in the sunshine or on a radiator before storing it in one of her three large suitcases.

‘They do smell a bit but I find it quite comforting. Sometimes friends think it’s a bit weird or eccentric and my kids just say, “It’s mum and her tea”,’ said the PhD student from Portsmouth.

Ms Gaal-Holmes said she sees tea-drinking as a ritual and usually drinks between six and ten cups a day.

Tasty Treats

Cup of Tea Song – Carus Thompson

A couple years back we were lucky enough to hang out with Carus Thompson on his UK tour, he hung out with us at our tea tent at a festival for a whole weekend, and one night a few months later we found ourselves running his merchandise stand at a gig in Cornwall’s Blue Bar, Porthtowan.

He’s a lovely guy that has travelled the world for 10 years playing his guitar and singing to the crowds, and he also appreciates the humble brew…
